  • We are always happy to participate in various educational projects. Because it's more than just about sharing own experience, but about shaping a better future together. This time kudos go to Jussi Lehto, who was holding a talk about Odoo and its role in the modern business ecosystem at the Vaasan ammattikorkeakoulu VAMK University of Applied Sciences.

Kiitos luottamuksesta, Vaasan ammattikorkeakoulu VAMK University of Applied Sciences!

  • We are using OCA, the Odoo Community Association modules a lot in our internal projects, and we are happy to share our experience. There is also a written version of the same instruction available in our blog: https://lnkd.in/dPptcmZM

Ok, so today is the OCA, the Odoo Community Association contribution Monday and it's UX o'clock ⏱️ Sometimes you need to confirm an action in Odoo and perform a followup action based on the user's response. This can be done using standard Odoo feature by adding "confirm" key in the XML. But what if you want to go beyond "Yes/No" options and process custom actions based on user's selection? Good news: here is a module recently contributed by Cetmix to the OCA, the Odoo Community Association that simplifies the development of custom confirmation wizards: https://lnkd.in/d7cUuj6v And yet another nice thing about it, is that you can create a complex confirmation message, like on the screenshot below 💡

I personally don't like those linkedinish AI enriched "I'm so excited/thrilled to announce" posts, however today I have to use this pattern (without AI). Because there are so many exciting news about Cetmix Tower, than I'm thrilled to announce them 😁 1. We have completely refactored access mechanism toward making it much more flexible and powerful. Now you can select which users have which roles for specific servers, files, templates and other objects. 2. Tower speaks your language now! We have launched a project on Weblate, and you can now contribute to translation fast and convenient way. For those who are familiar with the OCA, the Odoo Community Association it's exactly the same way OCA modules are translated. https://lnkd.in/dUifSBC8 Thanks our great contributors Stefano Consolaro, Oliver Arnold, Jussi Lehto, Davor B. and others Cetmix Tower is now translated into Italian, German, Croatian and Finnish languages. 3. We have significantly improved the documentation, making it more detailed and clear. 4. We have created a generic Flight Plan that allows to create a new Odoo server with DNS in just one (ok, actually two) clicks. We are now working on the video tutorial on how to do it yourself. And we are finally reaching the official release date, which is now really close. Yes, this time for sure! 😁 So stay tuned ... and you are welcome to contribute! 🚀

  • Cetmix Tower documentation portal has received a major update! • Are you struggling with a rapid growth of your Odoo instance filestore? Looks like we might have a simple and easy solution for you 😉

So today is an Odoo-It-Yourself Monday, and it's "Did you know this trick?" o'clock ⏱️ Storing images in Odoo can easily eat up your disk space, making filestore bulky. There are some workaround solutions for that, like moving filestore to external storages using the OCA, the Odoo Community Association "storage" repo modules: https://lnkd.in/d8bkuVkS However what if you are using public images that are already uploaded somewhere and are accessible with a link? In this case you can use the "image_url" widget which renders images from URL. This trick will allow to save you tons of disk space and also simplify the code, because there is no need to sync images from external source into Odoo. Cool thing about this widget it is that it can be used in backend! Here link to the code that shows how it can be used: https://lnkd.in/dRMRhRef Here is another link that shows how it's used in the Odoo 17.0 source code: https://lnkd.in/d2UcpBad #Odoo

  • This module makes important part of the Cetmix Tower ecosystem. What is even more important, that it provides a solid foundation for further integrations. Such as direct integration with GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket.

And another great module has joined the Cetmix Tower family 🏆 Let me introduce you the Cetmix Tower Git - powerful open source tool to create and manage git projects directly from Cetmix Tower. It is designed to simplify the configuration of the external Git tools which are later used in commands and flight plans. Currently it supports the Acsone SA/NV by Trustteam Git Aggregator file format https://lnkd.in/dPnQvEUq This tool allows you to build flexible git configurations featuring multiple remotes per source. You can add multiple PR's, branches or commits an once, so there is no more need to jump back and forth with a single branch per repo (#sorryOdoosh 😉 ) And yes, this is an Odoo module. So it can be easily extended to support any other tools and utilities. Some spoiler (what comes next): - Seamless integration with repo providers (select a branch/pr/commit from a dropdown list) - Support for file templates - Support for server templates - ....<some_other_cool_features_to_be_anounced_later> 😁 Here is some short presentation video, documentation is already available at cetmix.com/tower
